It's Official — Sonar Bombardment Kills Whales

As we reported earlier in Help Protect the Whales from Sonar Bombardment, activists have been trying for some time to stop the Navy's sonar activities in our oceans. Dolphins and whales use sound much as we use the sense of sight, and ultrasonic vibrations cause pain and death.

Now, finally, it's official. A newly released government report compiled by civilian and military scientists confirms that deaths of whales in the Bahamas were caused by Navy Sonar Testing.

According to the story in the Washington Post:

"The military's acknowledgment of responsibility also marks a sharp departure from earlier statements by the Navy, which had denied responsibility for the Bahamian beachings and other mass strandings of marine mammals that coincided with sonar exercises."
Please see the Washington Post Article for the complete story.
