Vibration and the
Song of Life

by Drunvalo

Vibration — movement of matter in patterns. Is it primal, as suggested by the Bible ("In the beginning was the Word"). Is it the source of all Creation? Or is it simply an ordinary, everyday experience that has reality only in the senses?

Sound can be converted into light, and light into sound. This implies that sound and its outer expression, vibration, are mathematically tied to light. And if that's is true, then an understanding of vibration could be paramount to understanding our reality.

Sir Peter Guy Manners, with the Cymatherapy Institute in England, would certainly agree that vibration and sound are the very key to understanding the creative process itself. And classical quantum physics holds that we can perceive the reality as either particles or as sound or vibration. From my experience, the new scientists — those who are entering new dimensions of understanding in physics — perceive the Reality as sound or vibration, not as particles like electrons.

We know from experience that the harmonics of sound produces music, and that music can alter our emotions. One song will make us cry with sadness, another will excite us to joy. So there must be a relationship between our emotions and certain vibrations of music. That's undeniable, for we have all experienced this interrelatedness.

Is there also a relationship between healing our bodies and the harmonics of music? Could there even be a relationship between different states of consciousness (levels that move into what we call enlightenment) and specific harmonics of vibration? The ancient Egyptians certainly believed this, with their use of tuning forks and rods to reach immortality. There are so many possibilities once the sound/vibration, physical matter, consciousness, and their interconnectedness are understood.

In my book The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life, Volume II, I make it clear that physical matter, biological organisms, and music are all interrelated. For example, the Rosicrucians discovered that if the individual vertebrae of the human spine are weighed, the differences in weight between each of the vertebrae (using the average of a large number of spines) are in perfect proportion to the cycle-per-second increase between each note of the chromatic musical scale. This discovery strongly suggests a relationship between the human spine and the harmonics of music!

The family tree of a male bee proves even further the relationship between organic structure and the musical scale.

Although to be born the female bee needs both a mother and a father, the male bee needs only a mother! This creates the following lineage pattern for male bees:

At the level of "13" in this pattern (in red to the right), are the black and white keys of a piano, representing the chromatic scale of 13 notes (really 12 since, the thirteenth is the return to the next octave).

Notice how the notes of the piano correspond to the organic relations of a male bee. The whole notes align with the F (female) and the sharp notes align with the M (male). Again, we can "see" how organic structure and music are related. *The order of M-F had to be reversed to F-M fit at these two places, which probably holds a great secret in life.

Also note, on the right side of the page, that the number of each generation of the male bee is a Fibonacci series — 1-1-2-3-5-8-13. . . and so on. And further note that the piano also is structured according to the Fibonacci series, with 13 notes in the chromatic scale: 8 white keys and 5 black keys.

These patterns are pretty convincing. So when Elizabeth von Muggenthaler, in her article Purrrfect Sounds that Heal, says that the purring of a cat can heal bones, it feels completely natural. Or when Tom Kenyon, in his article Unwinding Your Emotions with Sound, says you can release emotions through the sound of your own voice — Why not?

When Patricia Spadaro, in her article The Metaphysics of Sound, says, "When we apply certain sounds to an object or organism, we can change its condition, for better or worse," her words bear listening to.

Perhaps by understanding what is being conveyed in this issue, our minds will open to the possibilities that sound carries more than just words, information, and music. It could be the very basis of Creation and the creative platform for us to heal and alter both our inner and outer worlds.

Perhaps life itself is nothing more — and nothing less — than a song we are all singing.

In love and service,
