2010 — A Time for a New Order
By Stephen Thomson
The astrology for this period indicates a major energetic shift starting to influence all of our lives in a way that will result in "a call to action" for each of us. Having this kind of support will be very helpful for all of us. Over the last several years, the universal energy has not contained this kind of energy. Instead, we have been in a period that best supported our time and energy being directed toward thoughts and ideas, combined with some illusion and delusion, rather than a practical application or taking action on what we know to be true. The new cycle is well underway, with one cycle having ended and a new one beginning, and change is the forecast. As this energy continues to unfold and impact our consciousness, there will be a lot for us to contend with and the list of new priorities will continue to grow over time.
The Numerology cycle for 2010 is the Universal number 3. This is the background energy in all of our lives which will influence us personally, and impersonally in the world around us. The roots of this year, we actually planted in 2008. If you can think back to what was happening in your world and the world around you during that year, you will begin to understand the events of 2010 as they begin to unfold. Like a farmer, we planted seeds in 2008 which we have now tended for two years. This year, our crop will begin to appear and, we can see what we really planted in 2008. In a 3 cycle, our nervous system is very sensitive. It's a good time to watch our intake of sugar, salt and caffeine, as they could give us an extra case of the jitters. The number 3 is also about the Mother archetype, so look for the year to hold all things of and about Mother. This may include personal thoughts about our birth mothers, who they are, or were, and how they impacted our lives.
The question for each of us during this time will be, what are the areas of our lives in which we need to take action? This step is actually a fairly easy question for us to answer, since we have been doing a lot of thinking over the last couple of years. Each of us has a list somewhere, either in our head, on a page of our journal, or written like a grocery list of "To Dos." This is a list of the things we have felt the need to take action on, but don't seem to have gotten around to doing anything. With the influx of the 3 cycle, combined with the astrological events, we will feel the energy building within us to finally move forward. In fact, it is important for us to take as much as action on our list this year. For the energy in 2011 will create a difficulty factor and to some degree make it even harder to get things done.
The first few months of this year is a good time to evaluate where we are in our lives, and what we want to accomplish over the next several years. Once March is over, it will be time for action. There are many ways to step into this process. One way is to revisit the lists we have made in the past. After reviewing what is on our "To Do," we need to make sure that all the entries are still valid. This means, asking ourselves if we really want or need the things we have on the list. Then there is also another step we can take for evaluating our action plan. Always remember that one of the biggest motivating forces in our lives is rooted in our expectations. Those are of us and for others. If we approach our list from this angle, determining our expectations in relationship to the items on the list, we will begin to see some of the motivation we have behind the changes we seek to make in our lives. What do we expect? The final step before taking action is to ground our list within a spiritual context.
There are two other issues that will continue to demand our personal attention, as well as on a national and worldwide level. One of these deals with the idea of the traditional ways of doing things. This period will be a call to living and celebrating more traditional ways in the spiritual community. If asked why we are doing something in a certain way, we often language this part of our life approach as," this is the way we have always done it." Perhaps we are following a pattern established by our family, or the people who are close to us and our lives. Sometimes generational behavior becomes a tradition that is revered by the succeeding generation. But in a spiritual terms, we think of the traditional ways as the time tested and proven ways to progress. Handed down from one generation, the traditions of the spiritual path are the most trusted steps on the way to advancing our souls.
The second issue for us to deal with is the structures in our lives, as well as in the world around us. For example, our long-held beliefs have become the backdrop and structure for our life. There is the physical structure of our lives, such as our home, including the physical body. And then there are the structures that make up our banking, commerce and government. In this time period, these structures are going to be time-tested for honesty, integrity, value, and material strength. We will be asked to change or release any structure that no longer serves our lives. The hard part for all of us will be deciding how to transition our lives to a newer set of structures that better serve our lives. What we can be certain of us that we will be shown where the structures in our lives are weak and in need of repair.
This is the place to start our work. Over the years, each of us has added layers and layers that create a wall around our core. Here is the place of the most spiritual part of our being and the source of our truth. As children we lived in our core, unhurried and unaffected by the demands of the world around us. Over time and with the increasing demands of the material world, each us of has built a structure around our core. This layers over our structure supports us, but also insulates us to the shifting energy of our world and the demands of our unfolding nature. We find ourselves to a certain degree trapped by the structures we have devised, feeling as though our path is limited and that we are not free to be expansive in our lives as want. Reviewing the structures of our life will enable us to identify what we need to let go of that no longer serves us and our lives. In this age, our goal is identifying and reinforcing the structures that continue to serve our lives in a positive and powerful way. Anything else needs to be transformed or systematically released from our lives.
There are a few ways of reaching our core and reconnecting with our soul-based structure. One way of reconnecting with our core is through meditation. As we enter into the silence and journey beyond the distractions of our physical senses, we approach a place within that is the nearest experience we can achieve of perfection. Returning time and again to this place creates an emotional response within us that results in a hunger being created in our consciousness for a glimpse of Divine peace and a feeling of bliss. This affect ripples outward to our waking consciousness and stimulates our thoughts toward taking action on the inner-urgings of our soul. Another step we can take is to spend some time in our journals. Title a page "A Dialog with My Inner Structure" and allow your higher-self to channel through you the information you need to remember about who you are and your journey in this lifetime.
Here's a story to help us think about the core of our structure. When I was working in the corporate world, there was a period when I was involved in planning and implementing the annual budget for a large corporation. Each year, we would meet with top executives to present our plans for the coming year. One of the executives responsible for my area of the company would come to the meeting with a big red apple and a paring knife. As each line of the budget was reviewed, a discussion about the planned expense followed. The intent was to see if there was any way to change the planned expense and thereby create more profit for the company. Each time a revision was agreed upon, the top executive would pick up his knife and peal a piece of the apple. He was very adept at this and could take a piece of the apple that was proportionate to the change. Small changes got a small cut from the apple, etc. The day continued in this way, going over and over the plan, until there was only the core of the apple left. When we reached this point, the meeting was over and the budget accepted. We were at the center of the apple and there was nothing left but the core, the inner structure of the apple. The point of this exercise is fairly clear. Getting to the core insured success. There wasn't anything extra. Just the most important issues.
For most of us, the spiritual path represents a gradual and almost seamless unfolding from within. How many of us can truly say where or when our journey began? What we do is create a path, building on the steps we took yesterday, today and those which will come tomorrow. We don't always know if we are going in the right direction, but search for continued guidance and support from the unseen influences of the Divine. In the beginning, certain structures begin to build and make-up the foundation and support for our ever unfolding spiritual consciousness. Then as time passes, some of these structures seem to only offer emotional and intellectual support. What we are all looking for is the structure for our path that will continue to support our ever deepening connection to and with the Divine. That means coming to a place of knowing beyond a doubt, the personal, palpable presence of God.
The energy around us now, is a call to action. If our spiritual structures are not supporting us in the continuing steps of our unfolding nature, then it is time to make some changes. Usually as a part of the normal course of our advancing nature, we move from one structure to the next. At some point it feels as though we have found a home in our practices that will support the continuation of our journey. This time is about checking in with ourselves. The spiritual path is about being active in the face of ever-changing new information about ourselves and the God of Our Belief. Yet, just as we experience in the material parts of our life, we can also find ourselves getting complacent and even in a rut though our spiritual structure. The Universe has a way of shaking us to wake-up and, now is one of those times.
Perhaps it is time to ask ourselves the tough questions. Are we continuing to advance as the spiritual people we aspire to become?
What we can be certain of is that this next period of our evolution is going to be a time when the very foundation of the world in which we live will be examined closely under a microscope and changes demanded by us. And this is a good thing! Perhaps it is time for all of us to simplify our lives and to live on and with less. On a personal level, and In the wake of making any change, is an opportunity to redirect our lives and the time available for us each day. We are all so busy. Furthermore, and in the language of our community, we know there is a new order about to be born which will represent a more evolved spiritual consciousness. Let's expect a rise in responsibility and sustainability in regard to the earth and its resources.
